Murder in the Woods is a fun, suspense film to check out!
A group of college kids plan a getaway to a family cabin in the woods for a birthday celebration. Jesse (Jose Julian) with his loner personality, invites a group of friends to his family’s home in the woods. He goes against his grandma’s wishes (Soledad St. Hilaire) to not leave on this specific weekend. Little do they know they are about to embark on a trip of a possible no return.
Next to Jose Julian (A Better Life, Shameless) there was a multicultural cast with Chelsea Rendon (The Tax Collector, Vida), Danny Trejo (Machete), Jeannette Samano (Isa, Female Fight Squad), Catherine Toribio (Jane the Virgin), Jordan Diambrini (The Outfield) and Kade Wise (Empire).
Yelyna De Leon (Will and Grace, A Better Life) wrote and produced the film, in addition to playing a key role in this suspense thriller. The Mexican cinematographer, director and producer, Luis Iga Garza, (The Call) directed and produced this movie.
I talked to Soledad St. Hilaire (Real Women Have Curves, Beatriz at Dinner) about Murder in the Woods via Zoom call. Hilaire shares a little bit about her role as the grandma. She also talks about her Catholic faith, altar religion ritual for the Catholic Saints, and lost loved ones. We chatted about her love for horror and mystery films. Plus, her very own personal supernatural experiences including the Ouija Board!
